First, I want to start off by saying congratulations to Bob and Joanne
(insert bride and grooms name instead)! I know that you both have been planning
incessantly for the past few months to have this day be everything that you have
both been dreaming of, and everything is just beautiful! I feel honored to have
been invited as a guest and will enjoy watching your marriage blossom in the
years to come.
When I received the wedding invitation in the mail I have to say I
couldn’t have been more excited for the two of you. Everything I’ve seen and
heard of the two of you just seems right. You two seem to have found what we
are all looking for from marriage: Your ideal person. Your soul mate. The
one. You serve as an inspiration to everyone, because you have shown that
dreams really do come true.
So, congratulations again! I hope you enjoy the rest of your celebration
today as well as the rest of your lives together!

As you can see, this is neither long nor complicated, but very sincere and
just enough to let the bride and groom know that you are happy for them and you
wish them all the luck in the world. It’s also simple enough that it doesn’t
seem scripted, even if you do memorize it word for word. You may need to change
some of the words depending on how long they planned the wedding and if you had
see the two of them together before the day of their wedding. But, simple
wedding speeches such as this really do the trick.
To give you an idea, take a
look at these great yet simple wedding toasts:
|
Wedding
Toast, From the Bride's Mother to the Groom: To the man who has conquered the bride's heart, and her mother's.
Wedding
Toast, to the Bridesmaids: I have a dozen healths to drink to these fair ladies.
Wedding
Toast, to the Bride and Groom: Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together
is success.
Wedding
Toast, to the Bride and Groom: Seek a happy marriage with wholeness of heart, but do not expect to reach the
Promised Land without going through some wilderness together.

The mistake that many people make is that they want to toast wedding wishes
but they try to adlib or they just give some cheesy one liner. You do not need
to do either of these. As you can see, the speech above is more than you’ll
probably be able to pull off the top of your head and is better than any cheesy
one liner you can come up with, as well. Take a couple of days to commit this
speech, or your own version of it, to memory so that you can say something to
the bride and groom that you want to say, a speech that will mean something.
Remember, this is perhaps the most important day of your friend or family
member’s life; you want to say something that really will be sincere and
meaningful!
